Chelsea are in pole position to sign Everton rebel Ross Barkley during the January transfer window – according to reports.

Barkley is eager to move out of Goodison Park at the start of the new year and it seems that the English International has already rejected a new deal with the Toffees. The new contract had a wage structure of over £100,000-per-week but Barkley has refused to agree to the terms in the hopes of playing for a new Premier League side in 2018.

Ross Barkley to Chelsea became a realistic possibility during the summer transfer window but the midfielder made a U-turn during the final hours as he wanted to give his career at Everton one more chance. But that choice has not worked at all for him as a result of which he is finally willing to shift loyalties.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the two clubs that still want to sign Ross Barkley and according to the Express, the Blues are ahead of Spurs in this race.

Spurs also had an interest in Barkley during the summer but Pochettino gave the transfer a second thought because the player was still recovering from a hamstring injury. But now that the injury concern has faded, Spurs are once again set to revive their interest.

But Ross Barkley to Chelsea seems to be a more favourable transfer as the current Everton rebel prefers a move to Stamford Bridge rather than Spurs.
