Manchester United were agonisingly close to signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer but the deal eventually fell out due to a transfer embargo on Diego Simeone’s side. The ban meant that the Spanish outfit weren’t able to sign any players during the transfer window and thus Griezmann decided to stay back and help out his side. But everyone has been pretty confident that the move to Manchester United will eventually take place – maybe this January or the next summer.

But as per the latest news, it looks as if Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are all but ready to play spoilsport in the deal. Wenger who is set to lose both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the end of next season wants Griezmann to replace the players in the Gunners’ lineup. And the manager is trying to use his new signing Alexandre Lacazette as a bait. Wenger wants the likes of Lacazette and Olivier Giroud to try and persuade the Atletico player to join Arsenal.

Even though this is quite a long shot but the French boss is willing to take the gamble. More so because he will have a depleted squad at the end of the season. Wenger will have no other option to bring in a top quality player who is worthy of filling the boots of Sanchez and Ozil. And it seems as if the Gunners boss has pinpointed out Griezmann as the perfect man for the job.

Everyone knows that Griezman has his heart set on a move to United but in the dynamics of the ever changing football market anything and everything is possible.
