Recently crowned Premier League Champions Chelsea were made to work hard by Watford. But they eventually came out of the match as 4-3 winners.

With the season done and dusted Antonio Conte decided to give the old warhorse John Terry a start. This was Terry’s first league start since September of last year. And the Englishman had a very mixed outing.

Terry gave Chelsea the lead in the 22nd minute of the match and fittingly it turned out to be Chelsea’s 100th goal of the season. But he immediately gifted a goal back to Watford. It was Etienne Capoue who equalized for Watford after Terry had met with a poor header.

Azpilicueta and Batshuayi both scored for Chelsea in and around the half time. With a scoreline at 3-1, Chelsea looked to be cruising to another comfortable victory.

Watford were clearly in no mood to give the champions an easy game. Janmaat scored through a fine solo effort in the 51st minute to keep Watford alive in the game. Then it was Okaka who equalized with a quarter of the game still left to play.

But Chelsea just as they have done all throughout the season, dug themselves out of the hole. And it was Fabregas who was in the thick of the things once again. The Spaniard scored the winning goal for Chelsea with just two minutes of regulation time left.

It was total heartbreak for Warford as Chelsea took away a deserving point from them. And to make matters worse Watford Sebastian Prodl was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Final Hurrah for Terry:

John Terry is in the twilight of his Chelsea career as the defender is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer. Terry having gotten his first League start since September put his name on the score sheet. This meant that Terry had now scored for the Blues in 17 consecutive seasons.

Just after the goal though Terry made a very uncanny blunder which led to a Watford equalizer. But one bad game certainly does not dimish the quality of service he has provided to Chelsea down the years.

John Terry told Sky Sports after the match that he has made no future plans as of yet. If he gets a suitable offer from another club then he might consider it. But then, retirement is also something that is a very realistic option for him.
