Manchester United and Arsenal send scouts to watch Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira in action.

Danilo, 26 plays as a defensive midfielder for Porto and both United and Arsenal had sent scouts to watch the player in action during Porto’s league fixture against Portimonense. And reports suggest that the scouts were impressed within just five minutes after the Portuguese international scored a beautiful volley to put his team infront. But that goal did not fully reflect his side’s performance as Porto had to struggle to bag all the three points.

Danilo joined Porto back in 2015 from Maritimo and since then he has played over 70 matches for the Portuguese giants. He was also one of the keys players in Portugal’s Euro 2016 squad.

While Arsenal have been linked with the defensive midfielder for a long time now, Manchester United’s interest seems to be pretty recent. Mourinho already has one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in the form of Nemanja Matic but the former Porto manager knows that he needs a proper backup to the Serbian, in case he is sidelined with an injury.

Jose Mourinho is seemingly not really happy with the United board because of their failure to bring in proper reinforcements during the summer and the Old Trafford outfit is now fearing that their manager – whose contract expires in 2019, might move to PSG next summer. And in a bid to stop that, United have promised Mourinho three big-name signings during the next summer transfer window.
