According to the Sun, Riyad Mahrez hands in transfer request in order to join Arsenal.
The 26-year-old Algerian International joined Leicester City from French club Le Havre in 2014 for just £400,000. And since then he has turned into one of the most sorts after players in the Premier League.
As per the reports, Mahrez has told Leicester City boss Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha about his desire to leave the club in the summer. And Arsenal seems to be his next possible destination. Wenger who has been a huge admirer of Mahrez wanted to sign the player last summer. But somehow the deal did not come through. As a result of which Mahrez had to stay with the Foxes and sign a new deal.
But he signed the new contract under the condition that he will be allowed to leave the club this summer. And now he has given the ultimatum that he wants to move out of the King Power.
Even though both Chelsea and Liverpool had shown interest in the player but there have been no formal bids from both these clubs. And now if Wenger is willing to match the asking price for Mahrez then Leicester City will have no other option but to let him go.
After joining the Foxes in January of 2014 Mahrez has gone to play to 138 games for the club. He has managed to score 35 goals and forming a deadly partnership with Jamie Vardy.
