Chelsea and Bayern Munich played out a pre-season friendly in Singapore and Bayern won the match 2-3. While the scoreline would suggest that the match was a very close encounter, we can assure you that it was anything but that.

Chelsea were made to run all over the place by Bayern and somehow they managed to score two goals to make the scoreline look a bit more handsome. We take a look at some of the points that Antonio Conte might have to look at before the next season kick off.

Never play Fabregas and Kante together in midfield:

Antonio Conte started the match with Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante at the heart of midfield. And my God, what a bad decision it turned out to be. Remember that game where Kante was chasing shadows against the likes of Andres Iniesta during an international match against Spain? Well, the little Frenchman suffered an exactly similar fate. Conte decided to deploy the ex-Foxes man further up in the midfield which meant Fabregas was given a much deeper role. And this turned out to be a major blunder.

Playing deep in the midfield meant that Conte had clipped Fabregas’ wings and the Spaniard was more often than not trying to find the forward will long balls. And as for Kante, he was running around the whole pitch trying to chase down Renato Sanches and Tolisso. We are sure that Conte tried to experiment with the midfield but after seeing such a performance we hope he never plays both Fabregas and Kante together in midfield.

Chelsea need to strengthen their defence:

After winning the Premier League, Chelsea have once again regained the license of playing in the Champions League. But it Conte’s defensive line does not pull up their socks then they will have a very short run in Europe.

We wouldn’t say that Chelsea were really bad but they need to do much better if they intend to look eye to eye with the big boys of Europe. At times it looked as if the Bayern forward line was gliding through the Blues defence.

Conte needs to bring in another striker asap:

No matter how much we go around stating that Michy Batshuayi did not more game time last season due to the presence of Diego Costa but the bitter truth is that he far is off from being Chelsea’s fall back striker.

After a wonderful game last time around and being praised by his manager, the Belgian International did very little to impress in this match. Other than scoring that late goal to save Chelsea’s blushes, Batshuayi did very little to impact the match.

Alvaro Morata will give it his all:

Perhaps the only shining light in the game for Chelsea game from this Spaniard. The new recruit came on to the pitch with about 25 minutes left on the clock and he gave his heart and soul.

The 24-year-old was running around the whole pitch, pressuring defenders and chasing down players. He also came down the pitch on several occasions to receive the ball and build up play. Another positive from this match would definitely the link up play between Morata and Kante. Even though these two players have spent very little time together but they seem to have built an immediate connection on the pitch. This already looks a great prospect for Chelsea. And once Eden Hazard comes into the mix then the Blues might very well have their next big trio.
