Liverpool completed the signing of Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton for a fee of £75 million making him the most expensive defender in world football.

But the fee paid by FSG(owners of Liverpool) is not good news for the Barcelona management.

Barcelona interest in Philippe Coutinho is no secret and the Brazilian is tipped to move to Spain during the January transfer window itself. The Catalans are said to be preparing a bid for the playmaker which is expected to be somewhere in the region of £122 million.

But now that Liverpool have already splurged so much cash on the acquisition of Van Dijk, Barcelona are fearing that the Merseyside outfit will try and balance their books by charging heavily for Philippe Coutinho.

Fresh reports are claiming that Philippe Coutinho has told Liverpool that he does not wish to play for the club anymore which means that the Reds will have no other option but to sell him off to Barcelona. Liverpool though will not want to see him go out for cheap and they will demand an astronomical fee for the 25-year-old. More so when Barcelona pocketed a huge sum from the sale of Neymar to PSG.
