It has been a fairy tale month for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard. The United academy product has managed to score 7 goals in 9 appearances and is easily the most important player to Jose Mourinho.

But what is the reason behind such a rapid transformation?

Only last season the 25-year-old was looking like another promising talent who was going to become a waste. He failed to break into the first team and his appearances were limited mostly to cameos. And cut to the present day, Lingard is pulling all the strings in United’s attacking areas.

According to the Daily Mail, Lingard has managed to win the trust and faith of the United manager by proving himself in the training ground.

And in fact, Jose Mourinho has hinted at something like this.

‘These boys, they jump or they don’t jump,’ said Mourinho.

‘One thing is to be a young talent, another is to be a very good player. Some players are not capable of that jump.

‘From great potential, young players, they go to normal players. I think Jesse is giving that jump. He is being more consistent. He is being more adaptable.

‘He understands better the game, the different spaces, the different positions. He is going in a good direction.’
