Manchester United have been dealt with a huge blow as Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic has gone on record to say that he has no intentions of leaving Lazio.

Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season especially with the Champions League knockout stages coming up. And Milinkovic-Savic was supposed to be one of the top transfer priorities for Mourinho.

Now it seems that Milinkovic-Savic is happy with life in Italy and does not want to move out of Lazio – not atleast during the January transfer window.

“I am focused only on Lazio. This season, Serie A has improved significantly, as you can see by the fact all the clubs are still in the Champions League or Europa League,” he told Serbian newspaper Novosti(as reported by Independent)

“As a club, we have a clear goal of a top four position, because that gives qualification to the Champions League from next season. That is a really big challenge

“I am not thinking about leaving Lazio because I am currently very happy in Rome.

“It means a lot to have Vanja close to me. We support and strive to motivate each other. We play in one of the strongest leagues in Europe and we’re proud for each other.”

Manchester United are currently 15 points adrift of neighbours Manchester City who are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table. And if Chelsea manage to beat Arsenal today then United will slip down to the third position.
