Chelsea have signed as many as three midfielders during the past two transfer windows but it seems that the Blues have no intention of putting a halt to their spending spree.

According to the Mirror, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested in signing Lorenzo Pellegrini from AS Roma.

The 21-year-old midfielder came through the youth ranks at Roma but the Serie A outfit sold him off to Sassuolo in July 2015 for just £1.1 million. This sale though did not mean that Roma had given up on Pellegrini rather Roma had sent him off to get some much needed first-team football and the club had included a buy-back clause in the midfielder’s contract.

Roma eventually triggered that buy-back clause on July 2017 and bought back Pellegrini for just £9 million. And this season the midfielder has been one of the most talked about footballers in Italy. Pellegrini has made 21 appearances so far this season – scoring two and assisting three goals.

The Mirror claim that Man City, Man United and Chelsea are all interested in signing the young prodigy this January and it looks as if the thing that has most attracted the Premier League trio is his transfer clause. Lorenzo Pellegrini’s current contract at Roma has a release clause of just £21 million and he is undoubtedly a bargain for that price.
