Bundesliga outfit Schalke are close to signing Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

Rahman spent the first half of the previous season out on loan to Schalke but his stay in Germany was cut short after he sustained an injury. Now it seems that the German club have rekindled their interest in the left-back.

As per reports, the 23-year-old is wanted by a couple of Premier League clubs during the January transfer window but it seems that Schalke have beaten everyone in the race.

Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that the club is close to securing a loan deal for Baba Rahman.

Heidel said(quoted by the Evening Standard ): “We’re in talks with Chelsea regarding Baba Rahman. There are still one or two things to clear up on their end.

“We could agree on a deal with the player himself relatively quickly.”
