Manchester United are close to signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and the deal is expected to be made official in the coming few days.

Alexis Sanchez will move to Old Trafford for a reported fee of about 35 million pounds and the Old Trafford outfit are also expected to add Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the transfer deal.

Arsene Wenger had reportedly asked the Armenian as part of a swap deal for his outgoing forward and it seems that United have happily obliged.

These rumours were further given some base when Mkhitaryan was left out of Manchester United’s squad against Stoke City on Monday.

And speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho has clearly hinted that the playmaker’s career at Old Trafford is still not certain.

He’s a player that I like, of high quality,” he added. “Is he going to be involved in one deal in leaving us? It’s possible. But it’s also possible that he stays.

“I’m just trying to protect him and the team, so let’s make sure he stays with us or that he leaves us. The market is open.”
