Chelsea are said to be interested in placing a bid for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri – according to reports.

Antonio Conte has long been in the hunt for a new left-back and Alex Sandro up until now looked to be his only option. Chelsea reluctantly chased the Brazilian all throughout the summer but Juventus were not ready to part ways with the player.

This transfer window too the Bianconeri are not too keen to let go of Sandro even though the Old Lady hierarchy have softened their tone a little.

But now according to reports, Chelsea are out in the market looking for other possible options.

It is being said that the Blues have targeted Roma’s Emerson Palmieri and are planning to launch a bid for the Italian.

Antonio Conte’s first preference will undoubtedly be Alex Sandro but there are two major problems with that deal. Firstly, Juventus have made it clear that they will not accept anything less than £60 million in the form of transfer fees. And secondly Manchester United have also shown a great deal of interest in signing Alex Sandro.

On the other hand, Palmieri will cost somewhere in the region of £22 million which is nothing short of a bargain deal for the Blues.

The report suggests that Chelsea have already had a chat with the player’s representatives while they were in London a couple of days back and it seems that the Blues are planning to launch a bid.
