Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that the Italian champions are interested in signing free agent Emre Can from Liverpool.

Emre Can’s current deal at Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season but the German International has recently indicated that he might just consider signing a new deal at Anfield.

Juventus have had a long-standing interest in the midfielder and now their general director has made it official that the Bianconeri will go after them once he becomes a free agent.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Moratta said: “Emre Can is a player whose contract is running down, so it allows us to approach him for negotiations and that is the course we have taken.

“I can’t say if he could sign a new contract with Liverpool, but I can say we will try all we can to get the player. Obviously, we have to respect what the player wants.”
