Chelsea are planning a shocking bid for Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente after their hopes of signing Andy Carroll come crashing down.

The Blues chased Llorente all throughout the summer but Mauricio Pochettino managed to convince the Spaniard to join Spurs on deadline day for a £12m deal.

And since then Antonio Conte has been quite visibly short of striking options with Alvaro Morata being his only frontman.

As soon as the January transfer window opened, Chelsea were linked with West Ham’s Andy Carroll and it was being believed that the Blues have reached pretty close to agreeing on a £20 million transfer.

Now that deal too seems to have gone down the drains after recent scans have revealed that the Hammers striker has an ankle injury and might be out for four to six weeks.

The Independent are now reporting that Chelsea have reopened their interest in signing Fernando Llorente from Spurs.

The 32-year-old has not managed to make any sort of impact on the Spurs’ first eleven and has mostly played second fiddle to the prolific Harry Kane.

Chelsea though haven’t launched any sort of formal bid for the Spanish International and it will be interesting to see if the Lilywhites – especially Pochettino, are interested to sell him or not.
