Manchester United has finally signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal while Henrikh Mkhitaryan has moved the other way and joined the Emirates outfit.

The Old Trafford outfit announced the transfer across its social media profiles at 6 pm on Monday while Arsenal too announced the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the same time – quite understandably. Somehow though if you failed to notice then Manchester City also made a post at the exact same time to reveal that midfielder Kevin De Bruyne had signed a new contract.

Like we said, if you failed to notice Manchester City’s post then it is not exactly your fault.

We have a feeling that City made the announcement at the exact same time as Manchester United’s unveiling of Alexis Sanchez so that they can steal their rivals thunder – but the plan backfired massively.

On Twitter, United’s video for the Sanchez signing has accumulated 155,000 re-tweets and 200,000 likes, not to mention 13,000 comments.

Man City’s ‘thunder-stealing’ video for De Bruyne, however, managed only 4,000 re-tweets and 9,900 comments, and less than 500 people have commented on it.

In fact, Arsenal’s tweet revealing the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan got more responses than City’s.

Arsenal’s tweet received 35,000 re-tweets and 53,000 likes.

Manchester City might be miles ahead of United and Arsenal in the Premier League table but the Citizens are still way behind as far as a large fan base is concerned.

Please note that the numbers mentioned in the article might vary with the tweets. It’s always changing you know.
