Liverpool have moved closer to signing 22-year-old Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco and the deal is expected to be completed by the end of this week – as per reports.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been locked in a battle to sign Lemar over the past couple of months and now it seems that the Merseyside Reds have come out as the ultimate winners.

Lemar was close to joining Arsenal during the summer transfer window but the deal collapsed on deadline day. The Gunners had placed a bid of £92 million for the winger and he is expected to cost the same for Liverpool.

The Monaco management had claimed last month that Lemar would not be sold during the winter transfer window but they have quickly changed their stance after Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona for a staggering £142 million.
