Arsene Wenger is confident that Mesut Ozil will put pen on paper to a new deal before the season comes to a close.

Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid on a five-year-deal back in 2013. Since then he has gone on to make 181 appearances for Arsenal and has already scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season. His 5-year contract expires in the summer and there has been no indication up until now that the German International will stay at the Emirates beyond the summer.

Mesut Ozil is one of the many players whose deal expires in the summer and like Alexis Sanchez the playmaker too has been tipped to move out of the club once the current season comes to a close.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of the former Real Madrid man and reports have suggested that the Portuguese wants to bring him to Old Trafford.

But now Wenger has hinted that Mesut Ozil will not go down the Alexis Sanchez way and is ‘ready to commit’ his future to Arsenal.

Wenger said(as reported by Goal): “The vibe I get from his commitment, focus and desire, he behaves like someone who is ready to commit. After that, contract negotiations are what they are. We aren’t close enough to tell you yes, he will stay,”

“Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club. Hopefully, we will manage to do that very soon. (We’re) not close enough to be optimistic, but not far enough to be pessimistic.”

Unlike Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil has never publicly stated that he wants to move out of the Emirates and this will give some level of satisfaction to the fans that the German International will stay at the club.
