Liverpool have sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and also pocketed £146 million from the transfer. But with less than a week left for the transfer market to close, Jurgen Klopp is yet to find a suitable replacement for the Brazilian.

The Reds have been looking at Monaco’s Thomas Lemar but the Ligue 1 outfit have demanded a transfer fee in the region of £94 million. This has made Liverpool look elsewhere and reports said that they had settled for PSG midfielder Javier Pastore.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Merseyside outfit want to sign Pastore from PSG as the 28-year-old no longer fits the plans of Unai Emery.

Pastore is undoubtedly a very talented player but this season he has mostly been warming the benches at the Paris club.

PSG have spent heavily during the summer and the club will not think twice before offloading some unwanted player – so that they do not breach the FFP.

This would certainly have given Liverpool the opportunity to bag Javier Pastore for a rather cheap transfer fee.

But as per the latest reports, Javier Pastore has already rejected a move to join Liverpool during the January transfer window.
