Alexis Sanchez made his home debut for Manchester United against Huddersfield Town in the English Premier League on Saturday. And the Chilean pulled out a top class performance in front of the Old Trafford faithful.

Sanchez was easily the brightest spark in the United attacking third and helped United win a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. The Chilean stepped up to take the penalty only to hit it straight at the Huddersfield keeper. But luckily he put the ball into the back of the net from the rebound.

Alexis Sanchez’s home debut lasted for the full 90 minutes and in this time the forward accumulated to very contrasting statistics.

Firstly, the Chilean lost possession of the ball 32 times which was more than any other United player in a Premier League game this season. Sanchez was dispossessed off the ball 5 times and had 5 unsuccessful touches across the length of the pitch.

On the contrary though, the forward was fouled 7 times which is more than any other English top flight player in a single match in 2017/18.

Sanchez scored one out United’s two goals on the night and had 6 shots. He also had 10 dribbles and made 3 key passes during the 90 minutes that he was on the pitch.

When Sanchez’s loss of possession stat came into light everyone started criticising the player and debated over the fact that have United done the right thing by swapping him with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But once you compare it with his overall stats and performances for the night you can easily see that the Chilean indeed had a positive impact on the game.
