Jesse Lingard has come under a huge backlash from fans in the social media after he tweeted about playing FIFA just minutes after a minute’s silence was observed for the Munich Air Disaster.

The United academy graduate was present at Old Trafford alongside the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Michael Carrick and Jose Mourinho for the services marking 60 years of the Munich Air Disaster which saw 23 people lose their lives.

A minute’s silence was observed at 3:04 pm and Lingard tweeted about playing FIFA just three minutes later.

Lingard tweeted: “Your not ready for me.”

The tweet though was later deleted and it is being believed that a member of his team might have actually posted the tweet.

This though was swiftly picked up by the fans and they heavily criticized the midfielder for his ill timing.

Manchester United’s club chaplain, Rev John Boyers, told the 4000 plus fans who were present inside the stadium(as reported by the Mirror): “We are gathered here in these stands at Old Trafford today and linked to so many people in varied locations.

“There are many thousands throughout this city, around our nation and in countries across the world linked to Old Trafford… who join in solemn remembrance of the tragedy on a slush-covered runway.”
