Manchester United’s latest signing Alexis Sanchez has been handed a 16-month prison sentence – according to reports.

The 29-year-old moved to Manchester United during the January transfer window in a swap deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan join the Gunners. The Chilean though has been found guilty of fraud.

The forward was found guilty of defrauding the Spanish government of €983,443 during 2012 and 2013, the time when he played for Barcelona.

Reports claim that Sanchez has pleaded guilty to concealing part of his earnings from image rights.

He has also agreed to repay the money owed plus interest.

Sanchez was handed a 16-month sentence but will not be spending time in jail because he is a first-time offender and his sentence is less than two years.
