Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be eager to get back to winning ways after their disappointing 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The Reds are currently third on the league table – just 5 points behind Manchester United. Like most of the other teams in the top four, Liverpool too have given up on any hopes of winning the Premier League title and now their biggest aim will be to finish as close to Man City as possible. The Southampton vs Liverpool game could turn out to be a very important fixture because if Liverpool fail to pick up all three points and both Chelsea and Spurs win their respective matches then Klopp’ side will slide down to the fifth spot.

SOUTHAMPTON VS LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS:

Jurgen Klopp is planning to start with four ex-Southampton players in his line-up to face the Saints at the St Mary’s Stadium. The duo of Dejan Lovren and Virgil Van Dijk will be against their ex-team as centre-backs with Arnold and Robertson playing as the side backs. Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana both of them will be unavailable to play due to respective injuries.

Emre Can will play as the deep-lying midfielder and will be partnered by Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson further up in the midfield. Klopp is planning to deploy Sadio Mane on left-wing with Mo Salah playing on the opposite wing. This means that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is less than likely to find a place in the starting line-up and might come on as a second-half substitute.
