Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has given an update on Alvaro Morata’s injury and it seems as if the Italian’s problems are piling on one after the other.

The Blues brought in Olivier Giroud during the January transfer window – while letting Michy Batshuayi join Borussia Dortmund, in order to provide support to Alvaro Morata up front. But now it seems that Giroud is the only striker left at the manager’s disposal.

Morata started off the season in fine fashion after joining from Real Madrid during the summer. But with each passing month, his form dipped and hasn’t featured in a game since the January of 13th due to a back injury.

Before Chelsea face West Brom on Monday night, Antonio Conte has revealed that he has absolutely no idea as to when Morata will be back to full fitness.

Morata said: “I don’t know. Players like Morata are missing for a lot of time and we’re struggling a lot to find the solution to the pain in his back.

“If you ask me if [he will be out] one day, one month, the rest of the season, I don’t know – and for this reason, I am a bit worried as you know very well the importance of this player.”

Conte was also asked if he now regrets his decision of letting the player move out to which he said: “We took the decision and now this is not important to say, we could do this or the other,” he declared.

“Now we have to finish the season in the best possible way.”
