Chelsea take on Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday and it seems that Conte has finally received some good news – especially after the ruling out of Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Antonio Conte has confirmed that Bakayoko will not be available for selection for the Barcelona clash on Tuesday, meaning that N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas are set to start in central midfield. But the return of a key defender is surely a big boost for the Italian manager.

Speaking after Chelsea’s Friday night’s emphatic 4-0 FA Cup victory over Hull, Antonio Conte has revealed that Marcos Alonso is fit and ready for selection for the crunch tie against Barcelona.

When asked if Alonso will feature against the La Liga leaders, Conte said: “Yes. He [Alonso] will be fit.”

This will undoubtedly come as a huge boost for Antonio Conte because Alonso has been one of the more consistent performers for the Blues.

The Spaniard has made 25 appearances for Chelsea this season in the Premier League – scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist.
