Manchester City are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl during the summer transfer window – according to the reports.

Guardiola is already making plans for the next season and it seems that the Spanish manager has identified the defensive midfield position as one of his weakest links on the pitch. And if the Mirror is to be believed then the City boss has shortlisted BVB’s Julian Weigl as the ideal signing to plug that gap.

Weigl joined Dortmund back in 2015 from 1860 Munich and in these three seasons, the defensive midfielder has already managed to make 110 appearances for BVB.

His form in the current season is one of the main reasons why BVB are having such a fine run of form and many pundits believed that Weigl has already booked a place in the squad that is to be named for the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

Guardiola is planning to launch a summer bid for the 22-year-old midfielder and the Mirror claim that BVB already know about the interest from the Premier League leaders.

The German outfit have decided that they will not let such a key player leave easy and they will reportedly demand a transfer fee in the region of £40 million for Julian Weigl.
