Arsene Wenger has claimed in his pre-match press conference that Mesut Ozil is sick and will not be available for selection when the Gunners face Ostersunds FK in the second leg of the last-32 of the Europe League.

Arsenal have more or less wrapped up the tie after winning the first leg with a scoreline of 3-0, so theoretically Ozil’s absence will not be a major cause of concern for the North London outfit. But it seems that the Arsenal manager has not been honest about the Ozil situation.

Wenger said: “Mesut was sick until today.

“It was his first training session today. He was in bed on Monday and Tuesday with sickness.

“I would certainly have played him but because he was sick he will have to work hard tomorrow and he will not be involved.”

So according to the Arsenal manager, Ozil is bedridden but his recent social media activity states otherwise.

Mesut Ozil recently posted a picture on his Instagram account where he looks to be in perfectly fine health.

And to top it all up, the location tag on the image suggests that the German is in Istanbul possibly enjoying a holiday.

This has sparked a bit of a controversy amongst the Arsenal fans. One section of the fans are angry with Mesut Ozil because of his unprofessionalism and also with Wenger who supposedly lied to cover up the situation. Another section of the fans feel that his holiday is totally justified and the German deserved a rest.
