Manchester City have suffered a huge setback ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Arsenal as Raheem Sterling looks highly unlikely to make it to the matchday squad.

The winger has been one of the brightest sparks for Pep Guardiola’s side this season – scoring 19 goals in 31 appearances. But if the Spanish manager’s comments are to be believed then Sterling is set to miss the clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

Sterling missed the FA Cup clash against Wigan Athletic on Monday after he picked up a muscle injury against Basel in the Champions League last week. And Guardiola feels that the English International might not be fit in time to face the Gunners on Sunday.

“He had a problem with muscle, he had a problem against Basel,” Guardiola said.

“I don’t know if he’s ready for Sunday.”

Guardiola also shed light on Gabriel Jesus’ return from fitness claiming that the Brazilian has been training well and City will make a final call on his selection on Saturday.

If Jesus does not become fit for the clash against the Gunners then Bernardo Silva is likely to take Raheem Sterling’s spot in the first eleven.

While Silva is also a force to reckon with but Arsene Wenger will definitely breathe a sigh of relief that one of City’s most influencing attackers will not be available for the Carabao Cup final.
