Manchester United were held to a goalless draw by Sevilla at the Pizjuán Stadium during the first leg of the Round of 16 clash in the Champions League.

Mourinho’s men failed to pick up that precious away goal meaning that both teams will have everything to play for in the second leg. United though were lucky to walk out of the match with a scoreline of 0-0 and could have easily suffered a defeat if it was not for the heroics of David De Gea.

Sevilla were piling the pressure on Manchester United during the final few minutes of the first half and the La Liga outfit should have been 1-0. But David De Gea denied Luis Muriel’s effort with a phenomenal reflex save.

De Gea showed some superb reflex to deny Muriel and the Sevilla striker was so impressed with the save that he even went up to the United No 1 to congratulate him after the half-time whistle.

And when De Gea was asked what exactly Muriel had told him, he said: “They said it was a great save

“But the most important thing is the result, we don’t concede, so now the result is open.

“We need to play at home at Old Trafford, hopefully, we can win there.”

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho also praised David De Gea by saying: “I think the clean sheets are because of the team and because of David,

“But we also kept a few clean sheets with Romero in goal so I think the team even with a couple of mistakes the team defended well.

“And when we made the mistakes David was obviously there and that’s the reason why he is what he is.”
