Manchester United came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 and it seems that Jose Mourinho has finally had his revenge for the humiliation he suffered at the hands of his former team.

The match was hyped for a number of reasons. On the pitch, it was scheduled to be the battle of the juggernauts while off the field everyone was waiting to see how both the managers would react after their verbal spat over the past couple of months.

Before the start of the match, Mourinho and Conte indulged in handshakes and almost everyone watching knew that the managers had prepared themselves for a gentlemanly behaviour.

After the match too there were similar scenes as both the managers graciously shook hands and went off into the dugout.

And in their post-match interviews both Mourinho and Conte admitted that the feud between them was over.

Mourinho said: “I think the handshake doesn’t need any words.

“I think that’s what me and Antonio want to show to everyone and the handshake before and after the match is an example that everything in football, you have to move and respect each other.

“Mourinho and Conte are not two ordinary persons in football, we have a history, an image and I’m really happy with that.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was also calm and respectable towards his counterpart and admitted that it was Jose Mourinho’s idea to do the handshakes.

Antonio Conte said: “I repeat, he wanted to shake hands and we did this,”

Manchester United have retained their 2nd spot in the league table with the win over Chelsea and will next play Crystal Palace away from home.

The Blues though will not have too much time to sulk over this defeat as next weekend they travel to Manchester again in order to take on league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad.
