Chelsea‘s defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday might have set the alarm bells ringing for Antonio Conte but for a couple of the players, the 2-1 defeat might bring in good news.

The Blues took the lead in the match thanks to Willian but Manchester United clawed their way back to into the game and eventually bagged all three points. Antonio Conte’s managerial career in London has taken yet another hit as a result of this defeat and if Chelsea fail to qualify for the next round of the Champions League then Roman Abramovich might very well think of finding a new manager.

But if reports are to be believed then Chelsea are planning to tie down Eden Hazard to a new contract before the season comes to a close.

The defeat at the hands of United has been a wake-up call for the London outfit and the club’s management feel that making the Belgian sign a new contract with the club will give them a timely boost and also reassurance to their fans.

Hazard’s current deal with Chelsea expires in 2020 and its no secret that Real Madrid are interested in the playmaker. The Los Blancos wanted to sign him during the previous summer but an injury sustained during international duty put a halt to those proceedings.

Now multiple reports have claimed that Zinedine Zidane has told Florentino Perez that Eden Hazard is his top transfer target for the summer and the La Liga outfit are planning an aggressive approach.

The Blues are also planning to make headways into the contract talks with Thibaut Courtois who is also being targeted by Real Madrid. The Chelsea No 1 has refused to sign a new deal up until now and time and again has hinted that he wants to head back to Madrid in order to stay with his children.

These statements from the shot-stopper have put Real Madrid in the driver’s seat and many reports from Spain have claimed that the Los Blancos have given up their chase for David De Gea in order to chase Courtois.

In such a scenario, Chelsea feels it has become absolutely necessary to make these two Belgian Internationals sign new deal so that it can calm a few nerves at Stamford Bridge.

In all honesty, the contract talks also depend a lot on whether the Blues can qualify for the next round of the Champions League which has become very important as they currently sit below the Champions League qualification line on the Premier League table.
