Arsenal suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final but Wenger will be hoping that his team can salvage some pride when they host the Premier League leaders once again on Thursday in the Premier League.

The Gunners are currently sitting 6th on the league table – 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and it seems that winning the Europa League could be the only way to get back into the Champions League next campaign. But the North London outfit need to ensure that that they pick up all three points against the Citizens so that they do not fall further behind in the league. We take a look at Arsenal’s predicted line up vs Man City.

ARSENAL TEAM NEWS:

The biggest chance that Wenger is expected to make on Thursday will surely be a tweak in formation. Wenger opted to go with a three-man back line on Sunday and it came back to haunt him big time. So we hope that the manager will revert back to a familiar formation on Thursday.

David Ospina will make way for Petr Cech while Calum Chambers will also receive the boot as Wenger goes back to the orthodox two-man central defence. Laurent Koscielny and Mustafi are expected to retain their place in the starting line up.

Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac who played as wing-backs on Sunday are expected to start on Thursday but in the positions of right-back and left-back respectively.

Wenger will hopefully opt for a two-man central midfield in the form of Jack Wilshere and Granit Xhaka meaning that Aaron Ramsey will move to the bench.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will return to the starting line-up after missing the Cup final because he was cup-tied. Danny Welbeck is also expected to start in the attacking third as the left winger.

Alexandre Lacazette is still recovering from an injury meaning January signing Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang will start as the lone striker with Mesut Ozil playing in the hole behind him.

ARSENAL’S PREDICTED LINE UP VS MAN CITY:

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech.

Defence: Kolasinac, Mustafi, Koscielny, Bellerin.

Midfield: Wilshere, Xhaka, Ozil.

Attack: Welbeck, Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan.
