Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed in a recent interview that he was not happy with the way Jose Mourinho treated Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Dutchman also named two of the biggest stars in European football that United failed to sign during his managerial regime.

Van Gaal was sacked just two days after he won the FA Cup with Manchester United – making way for Jose Mourinho and it seems that the former Bayern Munich manager just cannot get over the ill-treatment presented out to him.

Van Gaal has now come out to claim that he was not at all happy at the way Mourinho treat Bastian Schweinsteiger.

While speaking to Sport Bild, Van Gaal said: ‘Schweinsteiger was older, of course, but not too old,

‘Still, his body was not able to keep up with the high demands of Premier League.

‘Bayern sold him to us as fit player, but, in reality, physically he had reached the end. ‘How Mourinho treated him after me, Schweini did not deserve this.

‘But it also explains how things were with Schweinsteiger. It’s a shame because he is a player like Luis Enrique, Mark van Bommel or Philipp Lahm, a character always present on the pitch.’

FAILED TRANSFERS DURING THE VAN GAAL ERA:

Van Gaal also revealed that he had tried signing Mats Hummels while he was playing for Borussia Dortmund back in 2014 and a year later the Dutch manager had made a strong move for Bayern Munich’s forward Thomas Muller.

But Manchester United failed to bag both these players for one reason or the other.

Van Gaal said: ‘I wanted to sign Hummels for Manchester United. But because at that time he was coming out of a poorer season, we didn’t do it in the end,

‘I can confirm that I wanted Muller. But there was nothing we could do. FC Bayern made it clear that they would not sell him.’

Van Gaal also blasted Manchester United by calling them a ‘money-minded club.’
