Liverpool have agreed to a deal to sign AS Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar during the summer transfer window – according to reports.

The Reds had shown an interest to sign the attacking midfielder as a replacement to Philippe Coutinho who left for Barcelona during the January transfer window. But recent reports had suggested that Jurgen Klopp was longer pursuing the player and was looking at other alternatives.

But news from France are now stating that Liverpool are still very much in the race for Lemar and Le10 Sport have also indicated that the Merseyside outfit have agreed on a deal in principle with the dynamic midfielder.

The Monaco management were reluctant to sell Thomas Lemar last summer after losing a host of other players but when Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona for a transfer fee of £140 million plus, the French outfit quickly changed their stance.

Monaco are now willing to let go of Thomas Lemar but they will not accept anything less than £90 million.

If the report from Le10 Sport is to believed then the Reds have already wrapped up the deal and this surely will be a huge setback to both Arsenal and Chelsea who were also interested in the player.

Chelsea might lose both Hazard and Willian during the summer and Lemar would have been a perfect fit given the fact that he can play on either wing.

Arsenal will want to bring in reinforcements during the summer in order to get their club back in shape for the next season and Thomas Lemar was a top name on their shopping list.
