Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the most successful footballers in the history of the sport. The Super Swede dominated a number of Europe’s top leagues, including La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1. Unfortunately, Ibrahimovic’s attempt to conquer England’s Premier League was cut short when the veteran sustained an ACL tear late in the 2016-17 season, his first with Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic successfully returned from the injury in 2018, but he struggled to make much of an impact on the side. He logged just a single goal in his seven appearances. In March of 2018, Ibrahimovic made the decision to leave United in order to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

Even at an advanced stage of his career (Ibrahimovic was 34 when he joined United), many believed his signing would help propel the Red Devils back to the top of the Premier League. While they fell short of that goal, Zlatan did help the Red Devils win three trophies (EFL Cup, FA Cup, Europa League). As always, betting against Zlatan is not the safest betting strategy. In the world of sports betting, your safety is very important.

While Ibrahimovic’s stint in England was abbreviated, he still managed to make his presence felt. Ibra tallied 28 goals in 46 games for the Red Devils, and here are the five best.

5. Vs. Galatasaray (preseason)

This goal didn’t count on Ibrahimovic’s official ledger as a Manchester United player, but it was one of the better goals he scored. He got his fair share of tap-ins and easy headers during his time with the Red Devils, but he still had a flair for the spectacular.

United played Galatasaray in a preseason match in Zlatan’s home country of Sweden back in July of 2016, and he opened his account as a Manchester United player by scoring this wonderful overhead kick on his debut with the club.

4. Vs. Southampton (Premier League matchweek 2)

Of course, not all headers are created equal. Ibrahimovic has been one of the most prolific headers in Europe during the span of his legendary career. He scored 7 goals with his head in his lone campaign with United alone, though arguably none were as beautiful as this powerful shot against Southampton early in the Premier League campaign.

Standing 6’5”, Ibrahimovic has been one of the tallest regular strikers in Europe for well over a decade. Obviously, his height combined with his amazing athletic ability leads to some fairly incredible moments. Wayne Rooney delivers an exquisite cross into the box, and Zlatan easily rises up over the top of Saints defender Jose Fonte to slam the header home from distance.

3. Vs. Manchester City (Premier League matchweek 4)

Manchester City decided to upgrade over goalkeeper Claudio Bravo following the 2016-17 campaign, and with good reason. The ex-Barcelona keeper struggled tremendously in his first season in Manchester and endured a number of embarrassing moments.

One of those came early in the season in the Manchester Derby. Bravo failed to punch away a free kick from Rooney, and the ball fell right to the feet of Ibrahimovic. Bravo was out of his net, but there were a pair of City defenders along the goal line ready to clear.

Unfortunately for the Citizens, Ibrahimovic just planted the shot in the upper left quadrant of the goal, and they could do nothing about it. The degree of difficulty on this shot is greater than it appears given all the traffic in front of goal and the technique required in the volley.

2. Vs. Everton (Premier League matchweek 14)

Who doesn’t love a good chip from distance? Taking advantage of goalkeeping mistakes is the hallmark of an elite goalscorer, and it’s a skill Ibrahimovic has certainly mastered over the course of his career.

We saw what he did with the aforementioned Claudio Bravo error, and just a few weeks later Zlatan made Everton keeper Maarten Stekelenburg regret the decision to leave his area with a beautiful toe chip from outside the 18-yard box.

1. Vs. Southampton (EFL cup final)

Ibrahimovic only squared off against Southampton three times, but he made those appearances count. He scored two goals in the EFL Cup final to help the Red Devils to a 3-2 triumph over the Saints.

The first tally was this stunning free-kick from distance to pull United level at 1-1. Fraser Forster gave Ibra far too much open space in goal, and the Swede made him pay by going up and over the Southampton wall and into the back of the net.
