With Michael Carrick leaving Manchester United during the summer, Jose Mourinho is eager to bring in a couple of reinforcements in order to strengthen his squad.

And according to the Express, the United boss is planning to make a move for Nice midfielder Jean-Michel Seri.

Seri joined the Ligue 1 outfit in 2015 and since then he has gone onto make over 100 appearances for the French club.

The midfielder’s current release clause is expected to be in the region of £35 million and this has attracted the attention of a lot of clubs.

Jose Mourinho feels that the Ivorian will be an apt replacement for the outgoing players and the Portuguese is sure to make a move for Seri during the summer transfer window.

But the Express also claim that both Chelsea and Manchester City have registered interest in the midfielder and they are willing to battle it out with United for the signature of Jean-Michel Seri.

Manchester City boss is looking at Seri as a long-term successor for Fernandinho who is currently 32 years old. Guardiola relies heavily on Fernandinho right now and he now wants to bring in some competition for the Brazilian.

Chelsea, on the other hand, want to bring in some fresh talent after their summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko has failed disastrously.

Seri’s £35 million might look lucrative now but with some of the biggest clubs in England chasing him, Nice are sure to bump up his price tag as soon as the current season comes to a close.
