Arsenal are set to take on Stoke City on Sunday in the Premier League but Arsene Wenger will surely have one eye on his team’s Europa League clash in midweek. The Gunners are currently 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur who take on Chelsea on Sunday.
If Spurs were to lose the match against the Blues then Arsenal will move within 10 points from the fourth place in the table but practically that is still quite a large gap to claw back.
Having said that though Wenger will definitely want to pick up all three points against the Potters and the Gunners’ manager has received some good news from the medical room before Sunday’s clash.
According to reports, Jack Wilshere and Alexandre Lacazette have both been deemed fit to play against Stoke City.
Wilshere missed both of England’s friendlies due to a knee injury but the midfielder has now recovered fully.
Having set that though Arsene Wenger will probably not use the midfielder’s services during the weekend clash keeping in mind the Europa League clash against CSKA Moscow on Thursday night.
Elneny and Granit Xhaka will feature in central midfield against Stoke City while Jack Wilshere be on the bench and might come on late in the second half in order to give him some warm up.
Like Wilshere, Lacazette too will not feature against the Potters. Aubameyang is not eligible to play in the Europa League meaning that Arsene Wenger will have Lacazette at his disposal when CSKA visits the Emirates in midweek.
Winning the Europa League is now the only for Arsenal to get back into the Champions League next season because even if Spurs were to lose their clash against Chelsea it would mean that the Blues will move closer to the fourth spot.
