Manchester United once again had a disappointing run in the Champions League this season as they were knocked out from the Round of 16 by Sevilla on Tuesday. But what Jose Mourinho chose to say after the match clearly proves that he just loves the chair and not the club.

Firstly the fans were infuriated with the team that Mourinho chose to field against Sevilla at home on Tuesday. The team selection clearly reflected that the manager had a conservative mindset rather than an attacking one.

And this came back to bite the team in the end.

United failed to break down the Spanish side all throughout the match and during the final quarter of the game, Sevilla scored two away goals in quick succession. The Red Devils did pull one goal back but in the end, it was not enough.

After the match, everyone was thinking that Mourinho would stand up and take most of the blame upon himself but surprisingly he did quite the opposite.

Mourinho claimed in his post-match press conference that Manchester United have went out of the Champions League a few times in the past and this was not something new.

Mourinho said: “I’ve sat in this chair twice before in the Champions League, and I knock Man Utd out at home twice, with Porto – Man Utd out, and with Real Madrid – Man Utd out. So this is nothing new for this football club.

“I don’t want to make a drama out of it, we don’t have time for that. We have a match on Saturday, we have no time to be sad for more than 24 hours. And that’s football, it’s not the end of the world.”

This comment from the Man United manager has infuriated the United faithful and most of them are now claiming that the Portuguese thinks of this as just another job in his managerial career.
