Arsenal Football Club are planning to bring in a lot of fresh talent during the summer as they wish to get back to the top four of the Premier League next season.

A lot of first team players have entered the final few months of their contract and multiple reports have claimed that that the club will not be providing them with new deals.

The Gunners’ board want to change the whole look of their first eleven and they intend to start with their goalkeeper.

Petr Cech is their current number one – having arrived from Chelsea a couple of years back and the 35-year-old has shown a steady decline in form during the past couple of months.

And according to a report in the Spanish publication AS, Arsenal are looking at Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as a long-term replacement to Petr Cech.

The report claims that Arsenal are more than willing to pay Oblak’s £88 million release clause and the club’s new director of football Raul Sanllehi is determined to bring the Atletico No 1 to London during the summer transfer window.

The Slovenian international joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2014 for a transfer fee of €16 million and since then he has gone on to become one of the top-rated goalkeepers in Europe.

The 25-year-old has conceded just 12 goals in the La Liga games – with 18 clean sheets.

Jan Oblak will undoubtedly be a fine addition to the Arsenal squad but we are a bit sceptical about the price tag. Arsene Wenger is certainly not a type of manager who will spend so much in the transfer market but if Arsene Wenger does step down from his position by the end of the season then his replacement can surely try and target the Slovenian.
