Germany manager Joachim Low announced his squad for the International break last week and there was one big name missing from the team sheet.

Low has opted to drop Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi and instead select Matias Ginter and Marvin Plattenhardt in his place.

Mesut Ozil got his usual call-up for the Germany squad but the Arsenal centre-back was undoubtedly a big miss.

Mustafi’s exclusion from the squad has a lot of alarm bells ringing amongst the Arsenal fans and many are claiming that that the 25-year-old will not make it to the World Cup in Russia during the summer.

But we feel that Joachim Low has not selected Mustafi primarily due to his injury problems.

The centre-back came off in the 73rd minute of Arsenal’s last Premier League match and was only just managed to make it to the second leg of the last-16 Europa League tie against AC Milan after passing a late fitness test.

Germany will be defending their World Cup in Russia this summer and they are set to face Brazil and Spain in two high profile international friendlies in the coming week.
