Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez has made it clear that he will not follow the path taken by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and play Eden Hazard as a false nine.

In the past few weeks, Antonio Conte has time and again opted to play without a striker meaning that winger Eden Hazard has been forced to play as a withdrawn striker.

The Belgian International has publicly criticized Antonio Conte’s tactics claiming that Chelsea do not see the ball too much in such a formation.

But the Italian has chosen to pay no attention to such advice and has continued playing Hazard in a false nine role.

And now many people had been fearing that Roberto Martinez will also walk in the same footsteps.

Martinez though has made it clear that he does not see Eden Hazard as a false nine.

While speaking at a press conference, the Belgium coach said: “Eden Hazard is not a false nine for me,

“At Chelsea that can work with the likes of Pedro around him.

“I’m not going to use him at that position for Belgium. We have Romelu, Michy and Dries.”

Conte’s tactics against the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City have been scrutinized by a lot of people and many fans claimed that the Italian has suddenly turned too defensive. But a defensive approach still did not help very much as Chelsea were beaten by Manchester City in the Premier League and were also knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona.
