Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson gave a fitting tribute to Scott Brown after the Celtic FC midfielder revealed his international retirement last month.
During an interview on Sky Sports, Robertson praised Brown for his fantastic captaincy and contribution to Scottish football.
Robertson said: “There’s plenty of candidates in there. I’ve been in the squad and there’s a lot of leaders in there.
Even when Broony was here there was more than just one leader but he was a fantastic captain for a number of years and he did a terrific job.”
During his international career, Brown led his team as a captain and due to his talent, there are only a handful of people who can take his position.
In August 2016, he announced his intention to retire from international football in order to dedicate all of his efforts to his club game.
He reversed this decision in October 2016 and featured in some 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He failed to make his side qualify and maybe that’s why in February 2018, Brown announced his retirement from international football for a second time.
