Liverpool are set to host Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Anfield and everyone is expecting Jurgen Klopp to pull another rabbit out of the hand.

Liverpool are currently the only team who have managed to beat Manchester City in the Premier League this season but the Reds will know that it will not be easy to upset the League leaders for the second time.

Pep Guardiola has hardly any selection crisis ahead of the fixture as most of his first team players are available before the Liverpool vs Manchester City clash on Wednesday.

Liverpool vs Manchester City: Man City team news

Centre-back John Stones is currently missing with a head injury but that should not be any cause for concern for Guardiola as the pair of Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi are virtually non challenged in that role.

Fabian Delph has been a revelation for City this season but the player like Stones is also sidelined with a knock. Delph though is likely to be fit before the Liverpool vs Manchester City clash but we are a bit doubtful if Guardiola is going to select him for the Champions League clash.

The City boss fielded new signing Aymeric Laporte in the left-back role against Everton during the weekend and the way he performed we are pretty sure that Guardiola will use him in the same role against Liverpool.

The midfield trio for City will remain unchanged as Guardiola will not try to experiment with it in such a high profile game. This means that Fernandinho will play as the defensive midfielder while Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva will play further up front.

Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling were all on the scoresheet against Everton on Saturday and the pair will also start the Liverpool vs Manchester City clash in midweek.

Sergio Aguero is suffering from a knee injury but is expected to be fit for the Champions League clash. But the way Gabriel Jesus performed against the Toffees during the weekend we feel that Pep Guardiola will opt to start with the Brazilian as his frontman.

Liverpool will know exactly what is coming his way at Anfield in midweek as Pep Guardiola knows only one way of playing football and that is to attack. Jurgen Klopp’s biggest challenge for the night will be to stop the EPL leaders from picking up that all important away goal during the Liverpool vs Manchester City clash.
