Manchester United’s club captain Michael Carrick has formally announced that he will be hanging up his boots at the end of the season after the midfielder has suffered from a series of heart troubles and dizziness on the pitch.

But Jose Mourinho is adamant about letting him move out and has offered the Englishman a role amongst his coaching staff. And Carrick got a little taste of that as he was present in the dugout at Old Trafford when Manchester United took on Swansea City on Saturday.

Carrick was not the only unfamiliar face amongst the likes of Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Ricardo Formosinho. Jose Mourinho’s son Mario José was also seen with the coaching staff wearing an official Man Utd training jacket with his initials inscribed on it.

Zuca, as he is affectionately called, is a Fulham youth academy product and is also a very vocal supporter of Barcelona and Lionel Messi.

Now though it seems the young keeper has decided to hang up his boots and prepare for his career as a future manager.

Mourinho too is pretty confident that his son will follow his footsteps one day.

The United manager has previously said: “One day, after a period of a few bad results, he comes up with some analysis.

“Obviously suffering because Dad wasn’t doing well, we had lost to Watford and Man City [in September 2016] I think. And he came with the stats of the team, I showed them to my assistants and I told them, be careful as one day this boy will take one of your places.

“I compare him with me at his age, where I would try do the same sort of things for my dad, of course with different technology methods, but analysis from a kid now aged 17, but 16 then.”
