Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the finest managers in the modern era and there are not a lot of things that the Portuguese has done wrong during his time as a football manager. But during his second stint at Chelsea, the manager made some big transfer window gaffes and those are now coming back to haunt him.

During his second spell at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho chose to sell the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah both of whom are currently the best players in the Premier League.

De Bruyne has been cited by many are the best attacking midfielder Europe right now and the Belgian International has managed to score 11 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions.

But when the player was at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho failed to notice his talent and eventually sold him off to Wolfsburg for an initial transfer fee of just £18 million.

Now the 26-year-old has opened up about his relationship with the current Manchester United manager and has claimed that he has had a distant relationship with Mourinho.

“I would say… distant. I’m not really somebody who speaks a lot with coaches,” De Bruyne told BBC.

“I think if a coach wants to speak with you then you just do it. He’s the boss. You can be good with each other but still, there is a distance between a coach and a player.

“I only spoke with him twice, that’s when I wanted to leave to [go to] Dortmund at the beginning of the summer and then in the second meeting I just said, ‘for me, it’s better to go, I want to play football.”

De Bruyne spent only one full season with Wolfsburg where he played a total of 51 games.

After that, the Belgian International moved back to England and joined Manchester City for a reported club-record fee of £55 million.
