Just when things were starting to turn around for Arsene Wenger, the Gunners have received yet another setback in regards to the injury of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian arrived at the Emirates in January from Manchester United and within a short span of time, the playmaker found his niche in the starting eleven. But now Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mkhitaryan has suffered a knee ligament damage.
The 29-year-old picked up the injury in the 61st minute of Arsenal’s 4-1 win over the Russian side in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday and now his manager has confirmed that Mkhitaryan will miss atleast the next three fixtures.
Wenger told the club’s official website: “He’s got knee ligament damage,
“He will not be available for Thursday and not for Newcastle and certainly not for the week after, when we play West Ham.
“I think he will miss these games for sure, but he could still play at the end of the season.”
Since moving to London, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored two goals and provided five assists during his 12 appearances for Arsenal.
While his absence will certainly be a huge blow for Arsenal but with the way, Danny Welbeck performed against Southampton, Wenger would be hoping that the forward can fill up the void of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
