For the longest time, Manchester United were said to be the frontrunners to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid during the upcoming transfer window

But now it seems that the move has taken an unexpected turn.

The Welsh International has not been a first choice winger for Zinedine Zidane throughout the current season and the fact that Bale was taken off during half-time in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals versus Juventus last night has proved that he will not be with the Los Blancos come next season.

But the Independent are claiming that Manchester United will not be the next destination for Gareth Bale.

It is being claimed that selling Bale has now become a necessity for Florentino Perez in order to accumulate funds for the bidding of Neymar who has been tipped to move out of PSG.

The report claims that Serie A giants Inter Milan are now the favourites to sign the winger and the management has backed the sale.

But this sudden drop of interest in Gareth Bale is suddenly not a big surprise given the fact that Manchester United paid hefty amounts to bring Alexis Sanchez on board during the January transfer window.

The signing of the Chilean has inflated the wage bills for United to a very high extent and Mourinho certainly does not want another high paying celebrity to come and warm his substitute benches.

Apart from Manchester United, a series of other European clubs had shown interest in Gareth Bale during the course of the season but one by one each of them have withdrawn.

And it is being believed that a lot of them are sceptical about paying such bags full of money for an ageing winger.

Inter Milan now have the free pass to sign Gareth Bale is they wish to but with a lot of clubs pulling out with each passing month, the market value for the player is constantly going down which is surely a big headache for the Real Madrid.
