In the past couple of weeks, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been the butt of a lot of jokes and now this has escalated to such an extent that fans are making money on his expense.

Seriously.

The Context:

Spurs took on Man City at home on Saturday and were beaten comfortably with a scoreline of 3-1. Guardiola’s side saw goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling while Spurs’ only goal of the match was scored by Christian Eriksen.

Harry Kane was the player who provided the final pass that ultimately led to the Eriksen goal but the English International failed to put his name on the scoresheet.

And this came as a bit of a blow to a lot of fans who had placed bets on Harry Kane scoring a goal against Manchester City.

So obviously a lot of people lost a fair bit of money but the people who had placed their bet with bookmakers Paddy Power were in for a treat.

The Payout for Harry Kane not scoring:

Shortly after the match was concluded, Paddy Power put out a tweet in which they claimed that they were paying out to everyone who had betted on Harry Kane scoring first or scoring anytime.

They also put out the reason for it by saying that they felt that both of City’s goals had come off Harry Kane’s shoulder *wink wink* and thus their decision.

At first, everyone thought that this was one of Paddy Power’s famous mischief which they are famous for pulling off time to time.

But then a person posted a screenshot of their account where the bookmaker had really paid him for Harry Kane scoring first or scoring anytime.

This sudden generosity from Paddy Power was only limited to their online customers and many people got a bit furious for this discrimination.

But the bookmakers explained in a tweet reply to a customer by saying: “Hi David, this is a trading decision, unfortunately not all offers online are available in store and vice versa”
