Arsenal suffered yet another setback to their quest of making it to the top 4 of the Premier League table after their shocking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Gunners started the match in the perfect rhythm after summer signing Alexandre Lacazette put them infront in the 14th minute of the match. But everything from that point onwards was downhill for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Magpies forward Ayoze Perez levelled things up just before the half-hour mark and then it was Matt Ritchie who helped bagged all three points thanks to a goal midway through the second half.

It was another dismal performance from Arsenal who are still sixth on the league table.

After Spurs lost to Manchester City last night, the Gunners had the opportunity to get close to their London rivals by reducing the point difference between them to just 10.

But the failure to pick up a win means that the difference between Spurs and Arsenal is still 13 points which in all fairness looks impossible to claw down with just 5 games left in hand.

Just when the Arsenal fans were thinking that things could not get any worse than this, football pundit Gary Lineker made a comment who clearly rubbed salt into the already gaping wounds.

Lineker tweeted: “Stay strong Arsenal fans. Still feel you’re capable of finishing above Burnley.”

The Arsenal fans were infuriated with this tweet and decided to hurl abuses at the football pundit who is often accused of being a bit biased towards Tottenham Hotspur.

The 2-1 defeat to Newcastle means that this is Arsenal’s fifth consecutive away defeat and Arsene Wenger’s men have failed to pick up a single point away from home in 2018.

Burnley are just two points behind Arsenal at this point in time and if things do not improve for the Gunners in the past couple of games then the Arsenal vs Burnley clash on the 6th of May to very well be a crucial game for Arsene Wenger and his men.
