Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is under investigation for unpaid taxes.

Costa is currently in his second spell at La Liga club having played for them for four years from 2010 to 2014. And if reports are to be believed then the unpaid taxes are from the player’s first spell in Spain.

According to a report in El Mundo, a boot deal with Adidas is the cause of the problems where Costa allegedly received £347,000 in un-taxed income from that deal.

The former Chelsea player is not the first La Liga based player who has been investigated for evading taxes with Cristiano Ronaldo amongst other names who has been accused of evading £13 million in unpaid taxes.

Radamel Falcao, Fabio Coentrao, Pepe, Angel Di Maria and Ricardo Carvalho are just some of the other names who have been investigated by the Spanish authorities.

Diego Costa left Chelsea during last summer after falling out with manager Antonio Conte and since then the Brazilian has made 17 appearances in all competitions scoring 6 goals.

During the past week, reports had emerged that Diego Costa was suffering from a hamstring problem and the striker might miss the Europa League clash against Atletico Madrid on the 26th of April.

But now news has emerged that the hamstring injury is not as serious as it first occurred and the Spanish International might very well be back when Atleti travel to the Emirates for the first leg.

Diego Costa has suffered the injury on his left leg and he is reportedly visiting the FREMAP de Majadahonda clinic in order to overcome the problem before the semi-finals of the Europa League.
